Remember, remember the fifth of November, Gunpowder treason and plot. We see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot!

Get your hats and gloves out girls, its bonfire night on Saturday. Sparklers, toasting marshmallows and fireworks. Bonfire night is by far one of my favourite holidays to celebrate. Every year we have a huge bonfire and all my family come over, I love the food, which makes finding that balanced life a little harder. It’s a fact that no bonfire is complete without delicious chocolate or toffee apples. We all know that refined sugar has no nutritional benefit whatsoever so I thought, what if.. I could make toffee apples which were healthier.. So I started experimenting and I found that yes.. You can! I decided that maybe instead of doing full apples because let’s be honest, they get boring after the first few bites, why not make apple bites, so you can have a couple bites and move on to something else thats just as delicious!

Lets Get To It

Ingredients

2 Granny Smith Apples
10 Medjool Dates
1 tsp Vanilla Paste
½ tsp Rock Salt
25g 70% Dark Chocolate
½ Lemon – Squeezed

Instructions

1. Add your dates, salt, vanilla and some water to your blender and blitz, then add this to a pan and heat it up to make it smoother on a low heat for around 10 minutes, adding water when you need to so that the consistency is not too thick, add it back into the blender and blitz it until its smooth.
2. Core your apples and slice them into 8 per apple. Add the lemon juice to them to stop them from browning. Dip them in the date toffee and place them on a plate. Once you’ve done all the slices, melt your dark chocolate and drizzle this all over it.
3. Place them in the fridge so that the toffee and chocolate set and then serve. Hopefully your family are as impressed as mine were.
