We all know superfoods are good for us, but maybe we didn’t realise that using them can help your skin. The cold weather can be hard on all skin types. If you want to make sure you skin stays flawless, it’s time to up your skin care routine. Most of us fail to realise that our skin eventually reflects what we eat, which can dullen our appearance, make us break out and even become dry and cracked. A good daily supply of vital nutrients and adequate hydration is required for that glowing skin, I mean who doesn’t want healthier skin?. Therefore, I’ve pulled together my favourite three superfoods to help keep my skin healthy, smooth and clear.
1. Coconut Oil
I love coconut oil. It literally solves everything. Coconut oil helps improve cholesterol, may lower your risk of heart disease and more. Coconut oil has been popularised for its anti-ageing properties making it a great staple in your diet in improving your complexion. It is also high in antioxidants including vitamin E, which is well known for its contribution to healthy skin growth and repair and also, its ability to keep skin smooth and protect it against cracking and wrinkling. Coconut oil is also great for cooking with in place of other oils.
Blackberries are my least favourite berry taste wise however, they are rich in Vitamins A & C and offer the highest levels of some anti-oxidants, which are your skins super-heros. They are made up of more than 85% water with a large dose of fiber. Both of these are essential for healthy-looking skin. Consumption of blackberries detoxifies the body, maintaining the elasticity of skin. Vitamins A, C and K in blackberries are excellent for skin rejuvenation. Their Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids-rich seeds are vital for healthy skin. Blackberry consumption promotes healthy tightening of tissue, making you skin look less lumpy and bumpy.
Spinach is one of the most concentrated sources of nutrients, delivering a whole array of vitamins C, E and K, minerals and phytonutrients. This vegetable plays an important role in skincare. Spinach is rich in Vitamin B, which protects your skin from the harmful ultra violet rays that cause sun damage, skin cancer and premature ageing of the skin. The best part is that Spinach is loaded with tons of antioxidants that destroy free radicals in your body. These free radicals damage your skin, thereby causing early ageing. Therefore, eating spinach regularly will maintain the youth of your skin and slow down age related degeneration. Who doesn’t want their skin to look younger and rejuvenated?
