stay consistent with your workout

I was asked a question by a client on Monday “how often do you check your body composition?” and it really got me thinking. Currently I’m in the best head space I’ve ever been in when it comes to body positivity and its because I’m not focusing on the way I look. I very rarely check my body composition anymore but when I do all the numbers are going in the right direction for me. Since focusing on my fitness I’ve found consistency much easier. I’ve found my training sessions much more enjoyable and I’ve never felt miserable the odd time I do feel like checking where I’m up to on the scale.

You are More Than a Number On a Scale!

If weight loss is your goal that’s fine, feeling your best is important to your wellbeing but your body is designed for so much more than just the way it looks.

Since changing my focus to fit, my whole outlook has changed. I’ve put strength and cardiovascular goals in place which I want to achieve by the end of the year. Therefore in my training I’m working towards them, then getting the right nutrition and rest to promote recovery around my training.

In changing my focus, I’ve found not only am I in my best physical shape but also in my best frame of mind too. When I do focus on the way my body looks it can easily put me in a negative headspace as through wanting to make improvements I find myself never feeling “good enough”.

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

So try it, set some fitness related goals and change your focus to achieving them. You could even look to try something new in the process. Even though you may end up seeing results in your body composition, its good to remember that you are so much more than the way you look and the number on the scale.
